The enabler for people participating in public assistance is public assistance. They have no accountability for using drugs and they get to keep receiving their benefits. Drug testing should be completed first before any participant can receive benefits. Also, random drug testing should be done on everyone while they are enrolled in the program. Having drug tests can help people by being accountable for their actions. If they test positive for illicit drugs then their benefits are revoked. Treatment facilities for these people who do test positive should be available if a potential participant would like help. Once they are enrolled in a program and test positive for a certain amount of time, then benefits can resume again. I believe having mandated drug testing can help impro ve who receives benefits and help those that need it the greatest. Education plays a large role in people’s lives.
